A Simple Thank You Means So Much

Last night at the theatre, I had the pleasure of chatting with a number of our patrons. Few people realize what really goes into mounting a production like ours. As I have written before, there are a million details and moving pieces. It truly is a labor of love.

But when I stand on the porch and see the impact of our work, it is deeply gratifying.

One couple, clearly well traveled and frequent patrons of theaters around the region, kept thanking me. “Thank you for bringing us hope. Thank you for touching our hearts. Thank you for giving us something uplifting that takes us away from the parade of bad news surrounding us daily.”

Their words stayed with me.

I am frequently asked, “Where do you find these people?” Our cast has come together so beautifully around a story that speaks to hope and community. And the voices! The glorious voices. It is pure joy to sit in the theatre each night and bask in the sound of these actors singing their hearts out.

I am grateful to them for all of their hard work. And I know they are grateful to me and our director for giving them the opportunity to tell this story together. I am thankful for our supporters. Thankful for the theatre artists who created this lovely musical. Grateful for the musicians who provide such a beautiful underpinning for the show each night and the crew who make it all happen from behind the scenes.

There is so much to be grateful for.

And right now, in a world that can sometimes feel heavy, gathering together in a theatre to laugh, cry, and feel hopeful together feels especially meaningful.

I revel in all of it.

See you at the theatre.
